Stainless Steel

Stainless Steel specifications held in the austenitic, martensitic and precipitation hardening varieties. Stocks are held in British Standard and International standards. Below is listed our most commonly supplied grades; please contact our sales office. Also stock is 301 stainless spring temper rolled strip.

Hi-Steel HSLA-80

Hi - Speed, high Speed Steel Tool Steel (made) : highly processed into the Tool Steel, carbon content high, while containing cr quantity is low (about 4%), reason burnish of Steel surface gloss darker, after heat can reach by HRc62 high hardness, resistance to rust performance not on a roll.

Mould Steel

Steel mould and Steel mould suppliers, global delivery, stock supply Steel mould steels.

Heat Resistant Steel

Heat resistant steel. AS Orlov Izobret. Mashinostr. 3, 48-49, 7/2000. The purpose of this work was to increase plasticity of heat resistant steel after aging at the 500-1300 deg C temperature and to improve its operational reliability.

Tool Steel

Comprehensive stocks held of tool steel, including hot work, cold work and plastic mould tool steel specifications. Below we detail our most common grades. Other British Standard and international special steels and tool steels are also available, please contact our sales office.

Ball Bearing Steel

Supplies Ball bearing steel of all types, along with carbon steel and specialty balls, to OEM's around the world. Also offers platinum balls, brass balls, gold, titanium, aluminum, carbon and plastic balls.

Spring Steel

Carbon spring steel is held in a wide range of sizes. Detailed below are our most common specifications. Carbon steel strip and spring steel sheet is available most commonly in the hardened and tempered condition, though certain sizes are available in the annealed condition. Round and flat bar is stocked in the as rolled condition. Most spring steel specifications are held to British Standard steel specifications including BS1449 & BS970.

Alloy and Carbon Steel

Alloy steel is steel alloyed with a variety of elements in total amounts of between 1.0% and 50% by weight to improve its mechanical properties. Alloy steels are broken down into two groups: low alloy steels and high alloy steels. The difference between the two is somewhat arbitrary: Smith and Hashemi define the difference at 4.0%, while Degarmo, et al., define it at 8.0 %.[1][2] Most commonly, the phrase "alloy steel" refers to "low alloy" steels.

Product Description:

1.2510 100MnCrW4  is a high quality non-distorting cold work Tool Steel. 1.2510 100MrCrW4 has combined manganese chromium tungsten and is characterised by giving high surface hardness after heat treatment and tempering, good dimensional stability in hardening, and good machining characteristics.

Forging:
Heat slowly and uniformly to 1000°C. Forge within a range of 1000/800°C reheating if necessary. Cool slowly (preferably in a furnace) to avoid setting up stresses.

Annealing:
Heat uniformly to 770°C, equalise, then furnace cool. (Hardness about 229 Brinell). Fully machined tools should be packed during annealing.

Stress Relieving:
If machining operations have been heavy or if the tool has an unbalanced section, remove stresses before hardening by heating up to 650°C, equalise, then cool slowly.

Hardening:
To harden 1.2510 first heat uniformly to 780/820°C until heated through. (If possible pre-heat at 300/500°C). Allow 30 minutes per 25 millimetre of ruling section and quench immediately in oil.

Martempering:
Martempering is an alternative hardening procedure for 1.2510 which may be used when suitable salt bath equipment is available.

Tempering:
Heat uniformly and thoroughly at the selected tempering temperatures and hold for at least one hour per inch of total thickness.

Hard Chromium Plating:
After hard chromium plating tempering of 1.2510 Tool Steel is recommended at 180°C for 4 hours to avoid hydrogen embrittlement

Welding:
Due to the high risk of crack formation welding of 1.2510 Tool Steel should be avoided, if possible. When, however welding is essential, the following serves as a guide:

A. Welding of soft annealed 1.2510 Tool Steel.
· Preheat to 300 - 500°C
· Weld at 300 - 500°C
· Immediately stress relieve
Electrode: Cr-Mo alloy electrode for welding structural steel.

B. Welding in connection with hardening of soft annealed 1.2510 Tool Steel.
· Heat to hardening temperature.
· Cool to approx. 500°C
· Weld at approx. 500°C
· Direct re-heating to hardening temperature whereafter hardening (quenching) is performed in the usual way.
Electrode: Hard facing electrode.

C. Repair welding of 1.2510 Tool Steel in hardened and tempered condition.
· Preheat to the tempering temperature (min. 200°C) previously used.
· Weld at tempering temperature.
· Heat immediately to tempering temperature, but max. 300°C. Soaking time 2 hours.
Electrode: Hard facing electrode.
