Hi-Steel HSLA-80

Hi - Speed, high Speed Steel Tool Steel (made) : highly processed into the Tool Steel, carbon content high, while containing cr quantity is low (about 4%), reason burnish of Steel surface gloss darker, after heat can reach by HRc62 high hardness, resistance to rust performance not on a roll.

Heat Resistant Steel

Heat resistant steel. AS Orlov Izobret. Mashinostr. 3, 48-49, 7/2000. The purpose of this work was to increase plasticity of heat resistant steel after aging at the 500-1300 deg C temperature and to improve its operational reliability.

Spring Steel

Carbon spring steel is held in a wide range of sizes. Detailed below are our most common specifications. Carbon steel strip and spring steel sheet is available most commonly in the hardened and tempered condition, though certain sizes are available in the annealed condition. Round and flat bar is stocked in the as rolled condition. Most spring steel specifications are held to British Standard steel specifications including BS1449 & BS970.

Alloy and Carbon Steel

Alloy steel is steel alloyed with a variety of elements in total amounts of between 1.0% and 50% by weight to improve its mechanical properties. Alloy steels are broken down into two groups: low alloy steels and high alloy steels. The difference between the two is somewhat arbitrary: Smith and Hashemi define the difference at 4.0%, while Degarmo, et al., define it at 8.0 %.[1][2] Most commonly, the phrase "alloy steel" refers to "low alloy" steels.

H13 DIN 1.2344 JIS SKD61 40CrMoV5 Mould Steel

 

Thermal Treatments

Preheat: 1100/1250F (595/675), equalize, 1350/1450F (775/790), equalize.

Austenize: 1100/1250F (595/675), equalize, 1350/1450F (775/790), equalize.

Quench: Air, positive pressure vacuum to 150F (65), Interrupted oil to 150F(65). NOTE: A minimum quench rate of about 25F per minute from 1800F down to about 1200F is recommended to achieve maximum impact toughness.

Temper: 1000/1200F (540/650), hold 2 hours at temperature, air cool. Temper twice.

Cryogenic Treating: Refrigeration treatments may improve long term dimensional stability by transforming retained austenite. Refrigeration treatments should generally be performed after the first temper, and must be followed by a temper.

Surface Treatments

Because of its high tempering temperatures (>1000 F), H-13 may be treated by most surface treating processes, including conventional and ion nitriding, titanium nitriding, and other coatings or treatments. Nitrided surface hardness will be about 60/65 HRC.

Annealing

A. Heat to 1600F (820), hold 2 hours, slow cool 25F (0)/hour maximum) to 1200F (650C), air cool.

OR

B. Heat to 1600F (820), hold 2 hours, cool to 1400F (760), hold 6 hours, air cool to room temperature.

Typical annealed hardness: 192/235 BHN.

Stress Relieving

Annealed Material: Heat to 1200/1250F(650/675), hold two hours, cool in still air.

Hardened Material: Heat to 25F(15) below original tempering temperature, hold two hours, cool in still air.

Welding

Use H-11 or other hot work Tool steel filler material.

Annealed Material: Preheat to 800/1000F(430/540). Maintain above 700F(370) during welding. Reanneal or temper 1400F(760) for 6 hours after welding.

Hardened Material: Preheat to 800/1000F (430/540) minimum. Maintain above 700F(370) during welding. Cool to 150F(65) after welding. Temper 25F(15) below original tempering temperature. (1000F(540) Minimum)
